Stephen Phillips - January 2, 1951 - May 23, 2018 CHOCTAW Steve Phillips, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer and went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 23, 2018. Steve was a firefighter/EMT with the Oklahoma City Fire Department for 25 years and served as a member of the Fire Department's Honor Guard. He was also a licensed electrician. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Winstead Phillips, who was his high school sweetheart; two children, Kristin Phillips Merrill (Tony) and Michael Phillips; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Mikayla, and Garrett Merrill; two brothers, Bill Phillips of Sulphur, OK, and Ed Phillips (Betty) of Chappell, NE; brother- and sister-in-law Don and Sharon Winstead of Winchester, VA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of Steve's life will be held in the Chapel at Resthaven at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's honor to the American Cancer Society.
