Michael 'Mike' Ray Baker of Newcastle, Oklahoma was born on December 11, 1950, to Jack Baker and Alta Woods-Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On Saturday, December 25, 2021, Michael passed away at the age of 71 years old.
In his spare time, Mike had a travel trailer and boat which he enjoyed taking out to Lake Tenkiller and Lake Eufaula. He was a very quiet, calm, and patient man. On his death bed, he said he never had a bad day. Mike's son described his father as a very optimistic man. He had a kind, loving, and caring heart, and he never met a stranger. Those in his life knew him to be easy to get along with; he didn't like drama nor confrontation. These were just a few of the traits that earned the respect of his employees at Harold Anthony's Clothing DC where he worked as a warehouse manager.
While Michael's first love was his Lord and Savior, his joy in this world was being with his wife, Nancy, his partner, friend, and companion for the last 52 years. Mike left a message on his phone for many to read, and it stated: 'To my wife, never forget that I love you. If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then, would you realize how special you are to me. Your husband, Michael Ray Baker.'
Michael touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Alta. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, of the home; two children, son Michael Baker and wife Elizabeth of Mustang, Oklahoma, and a daughter, Cheryl Corlee and husband Robert Chris of Yukon, Oklahoma; a sister, Jackie Goucher and husband Clyde of Litchfield Park, Arizona; as well as six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Jesus Alive, 1301 North Main Street, Newcastle, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Prague Municipal Cemetery, 1409 US-62, Prague, Oklahoma.
