Carla Jean (Briscoe) Markley passed from this life on Sunday, May 26 after a sudden illness. She was born on August 16, 1951 to Carl and Jannice (Kulp) Briscoe. She was a beloved wife, mother, MawMaw, daughter, sister, and aunt. Most importantly, she was a lover of Jesus and her life was spent serving her Savior.
She married the love of her life, William (Bill) Markley on August 20, 1969, in Oklahoma City. They resided in Fort Rucker, Alabama for the remainder of Bill’s time in the US Army. In 1977, they moved from OKC to Mustang, which they’ve called home ever since. Together, Bill and Carla raised 3 children, stayed actively involved in church, and every activity in which their kids and grandchildren chose to participate. They were long-time, active members of both First Baptist Mustang and Canadian Valley Baptist Church in Yukon, where Carla enjoyed teaching Sunday School and volunteering in the children’s’ ministries.
Carla was a talented seamstress, quilter, cake decorator, gardener, and crafter, as well as an enthusiastic little league team mom, scorekeeper and assistant coach. She often spent time working alongside Bill, remodeling their home, tending to their five acres, and working on projects for their family. Carla touched numerous young lives with her tender love during her 30-year career as a childcare provider. To her, however, no role was as fun and rewarding as the privilege of being a mother and a grandmother.
